In the summer, fugitive dust particles on unpaved roads can prove hazardous in several different ways. This drives many rural municipalities, townships, and road construction companies to look for cost-effective dust control measures. Here in the Pacific Northwest, Blue Line Transportation Company is proud to offer several different options to control dust on unpaved roads.
Some entities prefer calcium chloride or magnesium chloride due to its hygroscopic nature. This allows it to draw moisture from the air, helping control dust from the surface of an unpaved roadbed. The typical application rate uses a half gallon of concentrate for each square yard of a pre-watered unpaved road.
Lignin sulfate is a by-product of the paper industry. It is extracted from wood during the pulping process, which makes lignin water soluble. Lignin is typically diluted with water prior to application at a concentration of half a gallon of lignin concentrate per square yard.
For entities that are also looking for a dust control measure that is ecologically conscious, we also offer Earthbind®. This is a specially formulated biopolymer that is engineered to efficiently reduce fugitive dust by forming a matrix of the aggregate material in an unpaved roadbed.ompany can ship lignin or Earthbind anywhere in the United States by LTL, truckload, or rail. We can also apply the material for you with our Computerized Rate Control (CRC) distributor trucks.
